![]() ![]() 08879 Inboard and outboard controls of all types, levers, struts, rudders. Cutting out the transom would give me a quick option but the negative points are weak transom, opening for the waves and necessity of fibreglassing and re-gelcoating the cut out. Throttle and shift control cables, steering (ystems, bracket kits. Cut out the transom, fit a pod or fit a engine bracket. Outboard Hubs Outboard hubs are stock on SRW axles and van axles. This difference changes how much your tires and hubs stick out (or tuck in) and you can use this to fit a 14 bolt axle in a narrower 4x4. This going to be a fun project and will be readly for next Salmon season. When deciding about the way of attaching the outboard there were 3 options. Inboard If you compare an inboard hub to an outboard hub, you would notice that the WMS (wheel mounting surface) differs by approximately 2'. But, scabbing in the outdrive hole can't be that hard of a thing to do. Granted, the boat will be longer than it is now, so if storage length is an issue, you'll have to consider that. This project boat will sit untill I finish up my 36" band-mill for ripping logs siting in my shop. Re: inboard to outboard conversion I like the idea of an outboard bracket like the one Jserb has on his boat as the best option. Hanging a bracket on it and motors, he may need to do more than just patch the hole. "Sit" my pants! when pulling it home when the surge brakes kick in when braking pretty smooth too! plus four new tires. I have little money in this boat&trailer about the price of a nice fishing rod. And the second outboard was a 6 horsepower short shaft that I normally had mounted to my dinghy so I could only use it in calm conditions on the sailboat. I left the 15 horsepower original outboard on the bracket at all times. This project boat came with no engine or fuel tanks, fuel tanks which can be move forward when replacing if needed for trim. I owned a 27-foot sailboat that I made a bracket to hold two outboards and a trolling motor. Looking at 200 hp 4 stroke Honda fuel-injection less than 6 thousand. I wonder how thick the transom on the 21 footer is That might be a factor. The gas powered inboards are just so problematic here. Trim don't seem to be a problem from what I have read, I see inboard drivers hanging 100 plus quart cooler with a outboard kicker on the stern for trolling they do just fine. Emerson Boats here in Kodiak seems to be converting about any type of boat to outboards. I'll be making my own bracket with added support from floor stringers. Manufacture bolt on bracket for outboard looks pretty clean and bolts up using stern drive hole. This project boat transom needs replacing, wood having rotted plus stringers that support engine mount, glass hull in great shape. I'm pretty new to power boats but my research show this swap-out became popular since the eighties, sheds around 300 lb plus way better fuel consumption. ![]()
